Under the new General Data Protection Regulations, citizens of the EU have the right to knowledge and transparency into what personal data is collected and how it is stored.
To enable The Lightship to fulfil its professional duties and responsibilities as a Counselling Service, we will record personal information. This information will include your name, address, contact details and GP practice. At your Assessment, (using a client code) certain information notes will be taken i.e. relevant medical information, aspects of your personal, social and family history you choose to share. This information will be kept in a locked filing cabinet (keeping your name and contact details separate from the Assessment notes).
This personal information will be held for a period of three years after the cessation of the counselling relationship, except where there is a mutually agreed decision to retain it for longer or where the Counsellor believes it is in your best professional interests to do so. You may request for the information stored about you to be destroyed.
Your data will not be passed on to any third party at any time.
